Together In January Limited edition Lino Print
This lino print of daffodils was over a year in the making—from initial observational sketches to carefully cutting the lino, then refining the printing and colour mixing for each layer.
"The path from my studio to the daffodil field winds through woodland, sheltered by hazel and oak, past a badger sett. Emerging from the dense greenery, the landscape unfolds into a sweeping vista, revealing rolling hills, fields, and woodlands stretching to the west. We first called it the "Golden Field" in the height of summer, when ripening barley bathed it in a warm glow. Now, in January, it feels more golden than ever, with daffodil heads swaying beneath crisp blue skies and brooding rain-filled clouds."
I gain a deep sense of place by revisiting the same locations to draw and paint from direct observation, exploring the colours and fauna as they change with the seasons and time of day. Back in my studio I create detailed botanical studies of the plants I’ve collected. Gradually I develop the compositions and colours for my prints, often layering the minutia of nature within larger landscapes. This print measures 46 by 84 cm.
